So, what did I do this Spring break '05? I got officially engaged. Well, officially, officially..hehehe.

First we had a traditional engagement ceremony at my house on March 12, 2005. It goes like this:

Long's family comes over to my house, bearing gifts and such. Long's family is introduced to my family through the respective Representatives from each side of the family. After the families are introduced to each other, Long goes and changes into a Cambodian outfit (demonstrating that he is accepting my culture). Next, I come downstairs and greet his whole family. Long then proposes, I accept, and he slips on the Ring. After all the many, many, many pictures (and at this point my smile is fixed and my Zygomaticus major and minor muscles working double time --for you Anatomists), I change into an ao dai (Vietnamese outfit). Long changes back into a suit and then we honor our ancestors. Then more pictures and finally lunch.

During the evening, we had a party at Long's house. Over 200 guests arrived that night. Long's friends had to run a shuttle service from the many cars that line the streets to the house. I didn't expect so many guests. We took more pictures and I wore both the Cambodian and Vietnamese outfits for picture taking. Thanks everyone for coming (for those who couldn't make it I wish you had been there).

Long and I went to NYC for our "pre-honeymoon". We stayed with Alice and Chris at Greenwich Village. Walked around NYC and shopped. Had great food and desert. Thanks Alice and Chris for being great hosts:) We had fun!!

I finally uploaded my pictures from the California and Las Vegas trip~ Long and I had a fun time, although we visited when California weather was crappier than Virginia! How can that be?! I thought California ALWAYS has good weather? It was fun anyways because Long's friends took us out. I finally got to see Little Siagon

Las Vegas was fabulous! We visited almost all the big hotels/casinos. My favorites were (1) Mandalay Bay (sooo beautiful, I would definately have a wedding there! But we didn't get hitched, no worries.) (2) Paris, and
(3) Venecian. We stayed at the Boardwalk hotel which was in the middle of the strip in front of MGM Grand. We also saw a broadway musical, Mama Mia, at Mandalay Bay.

What a nice winter vacation, I would love to go again!

The Bellagio. Such grandeur! We could sit there for hours just watching the breathtaking water show.

Christmas is not as fun as it used to be. Instead of anticipating cool presents on Christmas day, I am instead dreading the horrendous crowd and lines at the mall. Why can't Christmas shopping be less stressful?~

So, is it just me or do the presents get suckier every christmas? I don't even want to mention some of the things I got for Christmas just because it would be too embarrassing. One tip: If you don't know what to get me, just give me $$. Thanks. But, it's the thought that counts right? I did get a very cute peacoat from Pookster, diamond earrings and a diamond bangle bracelet from mom, and a diamond pendant from future mother-in-law...so, I can't complain...tehehe. I'm all "iced out" this season; I kinda feel like an expensive christmas tree.

Oh yea, to add on to the stressful christmas shopping: I hate Victoria's secret. They are soo freakin cheap on their cute pink bags!! I had bought some stuff at Vicki's one day and went back the next day to get more pink bags so I could separate the gifts. And girls, we use those bags as gift bags right? Well, they refused to give me an extra bag!! They said I had to purchase something, and I told I did and had the reciept to prove it. But they were so freakin cheap and said, only one bag per customer. But technically, you can get a bag to fit each item you got and I got several items!!!! ARGGGG.

Anywayz, my new show? LOST. It's such a good show. I like it because its not like some of those reality TV shows that just give you a headache with all the stupid drama. LOST is cool drama with adventures:)

Many of you have heard of the great news because I couldn't wait to tell you all. I had to tell you as soon as it happened...hehehe. For those who haven't heard, Long proposed to me at 12:30 am on Sept. 23, 2004. Here's how it goes: (so I dont have to keep repeating myself:)

I was studying for my test when i smelled burnt cookies...I was about to go out to see, but Long was like, "no stay inside the room, I'm making you something". Later when he told me to come out, the room was dark and there were candles and red roses laid out all over the room. There was a plate of chocolate covered strawberries (he had tried to make) and a box on the sofa. He said to read the cards in the box in order....it said

"9/23/200 The Day we said "I love you" to each other. Happy 4 years Pookie"
2nd card: "Here is your belated gift. 4 years ago I said "I love you".
3rd card" I meant it then, and I mean it forever. I love you. Open your present now" so I opened and there was a GEORGOUS RING. I couldn't imagine a more perfect and beautiful ring than the one presented to me that night.
4th card "Erica, Will you MARRY ME?"

I was in total shock of excitment and happiness. Yes, I cried.

Thank you everyone for your supports and congrads. It definately made us feel so special to have such wonderful friends that cared about us. Many of you had so much faith in us even at times when we didn't. I can't imagine being engaged to a man that is more than perfect in my eyes. I felt something special that night, (freshman year, 1st weekend of school at VTech), that I've never felt before. The feeling was so comfortable and so right. I'm so thankful that I've found my prince charming. Not only is he my companion, but most importantly, he is my best friend. The one I trust my life with. I love you, Fiancee

Long and I were missing Vtech, so we made a trip down there this weekend. I had lots of fun and it was very nice to see everyone at Tech. It seemed everyone was having a party friday night and a picnic Saturday afternoon. Which worked out for us cause we got to party with our friends and got to chit chat at the picnic. The lambda had their own house which was nice. I loved the fire pit in their nice big yard. The picnics were a lot of fun. I got to play the egg toss game at both picnics, so now I'm a pro..jk. I would have definately stayed longer because there is always something to do at Tech, but dental school studying was calling me back to Richmond. It was nice to see you guys at Tech and I miss you all!! Muah!

So, you guys may wonder who my friends are at dental school. Well, the D1 girls had some bonding events, such as dinner at Casa Grande. We also went shopping afterwards. We got 4 years to get to know each other very very closely...hehe. We all got some kind of talent or skills that we are going to share. For example...Leah is training us to be great swimmers and Isabel is teaching us to be excellent salsa dancers;) For me? I can teach them to be rounders:) train them to be world poker tour women...puhahaha. Our greatest bonding moment? Gross Anatomy lab.

Wow,

I haven't updated this thing in forever. I've been so busy lately getting situated and exploring what ghetto Richmond has to offer. Quite a surprise, I've learned today that Richmond has a lot to offer. I'm living in downtown Richmond which is only a 3 minute drive to the Medical and Dental campus. There are a few nice malls around here, one of which is Short Pump mall which is like a California mall. There is Cary Town is has lots of shops and nice resturants. There's the Fan Area which is an artsy place with resturants and bars.

So, class is going okay. As expected, I've been studying a lot more than undergraduate. My typical day goes like so:
7:00 am ---Wake up
8:00-1:00---Gross Anatomy
1:00-2:00--Lunch
2:00-5:00---Dental Anatomy/Clincial Dentistry/Rotations etc....
5:00-8:00---Eat/Relax
8:00-11:00---Study
11:00 -12:00---Relax
12:00am---SLEEP

So the topic of the week is that we're dissecting a man who has donated his body to science. At first I was really disgusted and repelled. But as the week went by, I started to get used to shearing through the skin and fat of my cadaver (which by the way, I don't do much of b/c I leave that up to my lab partner) I just like to poke at the improtant features and explain to other's what I've learn from the teachers. So, I've learn to appreciate the opportunity to learn about the human body. I've learn to apprectiate the people that donated their body to science because they have a vision that the later generation can learn from them and save other lives thru this class and research. However, I'm still overwhelmed with the ideas of some things we have to do, such has severing off a leg so we can study the pelvic area and cutting the eyeballs (my most sensitive area).

Yup.

I'm gonna die. I know this is going to be my last view from so high. And what a beautiful and splendid view! Everything looks so peaceful from where I am now. The trees so green, the air so fresh. I want to think about all the people that mattered to me, but I can't because I don't have much time left. I sat all alone in regret and anticipation and with so much freight. I know that at any moment, I'm going to just drop and I would have no breath left. Still, with so much nervousness I waited for my destiny. Then suddenly, I felt it. I took one big breath and screamed with all my might. Next thing I know, my voice was gone...I want to scream some more but I can't. Then it was over...wow. I survived the drop zone (highest drop in North America) at Paramount's Kings Dominion.

I still can't believe I went on that ride, I basically had no choice but to go. No one was letting me skip that ride. But after overcoming my fear, I went on the ride and now I want to go again!!! Yay Thanks guys for a great experience at KD.
